Who We Are: Co-Founders with Complimentary Skills and Experiences

Originally from San Rafael, Jose Mostafa is the experienced backbone of Study Abroad Mendoza. For fifteen years prior to joining our organization Jose was Director of the Mendoza office of IFSA-Butler, a U.S. firm that runs semester-long study programs around the world.

Jose began working in education abroad in 1994. Since then he has overseen the hosting of thousands of students in Mendoza, personally arranging their housing, academic experiences, excursions, health services and travel arrangements. Indeed, there is almost no program issue or student emergency that Jose does not have experience troubleshooting. His extensive background in the field means that he has skills in running programs and caring for the needs of students and faculty that are unparalleled in Mendoza.

Jose received a degree in Social Communications from Mendoza’s Cuyo National University and an MBA in Global Management from universities in Argentina, the U.S. and Spain (through Alta Dirección Escuela de Negocios, ADEN).

David English leverages nearly twenty years of experience with foreign investment and entrepreneurship in Argentina to secure high-quality consulting engagements for students at Mendoza’s leading companies. As president of English & Associates, he has helped hundreds of investors and corporations from overseas do business in the region.

David is the author of Expat Entrepreneurs in Argentina, which tells the stories of ten foreigners who successfully started businesses in Mendoza. Often these entrepreneurs participate in our programs so that students learn firsthand what it is like to live and work overseas.

David is also the founder of the Mendoza Expats Club. On a volunteer basis he manages the Mendoza-Nashville Symphony Orchestra Exchange Program and serves as the Mendoza coordinator for Sister Cities of Nashville. David holds an English creative writing degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and an MBA from Austral University in Buenos Aires.

David has attended The Forum on Education Abroad accelerated residency program for professional certification. He is therefore well versed in the Forum’s Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad (recognized as the definitive means by which the quality of education abroad programs may be judged) as well as its Code of Ethics
